I was arrested in Suffolk County for a DWI. Will I lose my license?

Not necessarily. It depends on certain factors, such as what the alcohol reading was in your case. If it is below .08% BAC (blood alcohol level) and you are charged with driving while impaired by alcohol, the court will not suspend your license. If the alcohol reading is above .08% BAC, the court must suspend your driving privilege in New York at your arraignment. That is where you plead not guilty. You may qualify for a conditional license. If you refuse a breathalyzer test, the court will temporarily suspend your privilege to drive until you receive a hearing in front of an administrative judge at the Department of Motor Vehicles. That must happen within (15) days of your arrest, or your privilege may be restored.
